Privacy Policy
Effective date: [the day the app goes live]. This policy covers the Table Rock Navigator app and this website, run by ("we").
What we collect
| Information | Why | Who can see it |
|---|---|---|
| Username | Your public name on hazard reports, tips and with friends | Other signed-in members |
| First and last name, phone number, email, home marina, type of boat | To run your account, contact you about your reports or account, and understand who uses the app | You and us |
| Favorites, blocked users, settings | To save your places and choices across devices | You and us |
| Hazard reports, map fixes, suggested edits and tips you send | To keep the map current for everyone | Reports and approved tips: everyone. Fixes and edits: you and us |
| How you use the app: the screens and buttons you use, places you look at or route to, searches, trips and their length, ads and events you see or tap, and a random ID the app makes for your phone | To improve the app, and to show businesses how many people saw their ads or listings (as totals only) | Us. Advertisers see only totals, like "1,200 boaters viewed your listing in July" |
| Notification token and your weather alert setting (only if you allow notifications) | To send National Weather Service warnings for the lake | Us |
| Precise location | To show your boat on the map, route you and warn you about shallow water. This happens on your phone. | Only you, unless you turn on sharing (below) |
| Location shared with friends (only if you turn it on) | So friends you accept can see your boat | Friends you've accepted |
Location sharing with friends
- It's off until you turn it on, and you can turn it off (ghost mode) at any time.
- Only people you've accepted as friends can see it, and they see your username, boat type, position, heading and speed.
- It only shares while you're on Table Rock Lake. When you've been off the water for a couple of minutes, your stored spot is erased. Our servers also refuse locations outside the lake area.
- We keep only your latest spot, not a history of where you've been.
Things we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your personal information.
- We don't give advertisers your name, contact details, location, trips or anything else about you. They get totals only.
- We don't use your phone's advertising ID.
- We don't track you across other apps or websites.
Services that help run the app
- Supabase stores accounts and app data on our behalf.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers notifications to your phone (Apple's push service on iPhone). It gets a notification token and the alert text, nothing else.
- Apple and Google handle Sign in with Apple and Google sign-in if you use them, and deliver the app.
- National Weather Service and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers: the app asks them for weather and lake level. They see a request from your phone's internet address but no account information.
- Apple Maps or Google Maps open when you tap "Drive here", under their own privacy policies.
Content you post
Tips are checked automatically for explicit content, links and phone numbers. Flagged tips wait for review. Members can report tips and block other members. We may remove content or stop an account from posting if it breaks the tip rules shown in the app.
How long we keep it
- Account information: until you delete your account.
- Shared location: only your latest spot, erased when you leave the lake or turn sharing off.
- Hazard reports: shown for a few hours, then expire.
- Usage data: about 13 months, then deleted. If you delete your account, it's unlinked from you right away.
- Notification token: until you turn notifications off, uninstall the app or delete your account.
- When you delete your account, your profile, friends, location, favorites, reports, fixes and tips are deleted from our database. Backups roll off within about a week.
Your choices
- Change your details any time in the app under your account.
- Choose which weather alerts you get, or turn them off, under the weather card in the app. You can also turn notifications off in your phone's settings.
- You don't need an account to use the map, send a map fix or suggest an edit.
- Delete your account in the app (Account → Delete my account), or follow the steps on our support page.
- Ask us what we have about you, or to correct it, by emailing .
Children
The app isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has made an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Safety
Data is sent over encrypted connections, and our database rules limit each member to their own information. No system is perfectly secure, so use a strong password.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
